Niagara Portrait Photography – Frequently Asked Questions

What types of portraits sessions do you offer?

I specialize in portrait photography, including individual portraits, personal branding, and professional headshots. My work focuses on a more intentional, studio-lit style rather than typical outdoor or candid sessions.

What makes your portraits different?

My style is built around controlled lighting and a more cinematic look. Instead of relying as much on natural light, I use studio lighting techniques to create depth, mood, and a more striking, dramatic feel. If you’re looking for something that stands out from standard outdoor portraits, this is where my work is different.

Do you shoot in a studio or on location?

Both, I offer:

Studio-style sessions (indoors, controlled lighting)

On-location sessions where I bring lighting equipment to create the same look

This gives you flexibility while still maintaining a consistent style.

Where are you located?

I’m based in the Niagara region, and I work with clients throughout Niagara and surrounding areas.

How much does a portrait session cost?

My session fee starts at $250. Some locations or custom setups may involve additional costs depending on complexity, travel, or setup requirements.

What does the session fee include?

The session fee covers: A consultation call or meeting the photography session itself, lighting setup and creative direction, my time and expertise during the shoot, 6 - 8 digital retouched images. Prints or products can be selected separately after your session.

Do you help with posing?

Absolutely. Most people aren’t used to being in front of a camera — that’s completely normal. I guide you through natural, flattering poses so you feel comfortable and confident throughout the session.

What should I wear for my session?

Once you book, I can help guide you on wardrobe choices. In general solid, neutral tones work very well. Simple clothing keeps the focus on you. Layers and texture can add depth. We can tailor everything to the look you’re going for.

Can I get a dark or dramatic look?

Yes — that’s actually one of my specialties. If you’re drawn to moody, cinematic, or dramatic portraits, I can design the lighting and setup specifically to achieve that look.

Is this good for business or personal branding?

Definitely. This style works especially well for entrepreneurs, creatives, professionals looking for something more unique than a standard headshot. It helps create a stronger visual identity and stand out.

How long does a session take?

Most sessions typically last 45–90 minutes, depending on the type of shoot and setup.
